The old paradigm of DR work that looks less than great creative is simply a myth. The first line of defense for a great campaign is how it looks and feels. Bad creative will deter many clients in identifying with a product or service.

The days or simply sticking a large phone number at the bottom of an ad is long gone. Can we just all agree that ALL advertising is DR? Some campaigns are more intricate, some less so, but when it counts, good and effective advertising contains a large direct response element that compels consumers to act.

The perfect combination of smart, researched, data-driven ideas and inspired creative is a surefire way to procure an engagement with a potential audience. One cannot live without the other. As David Ogilvy famously said: “Advertising people who ignore research are as dangerous as generals who ignore decodes of enemy signals.” He also said: “If it doesn’t sell, it isn’t creative.”
